Erev Shabbat

Shabbat (Hebrew for “rest” or “stop”) is a time where we remember that the LORD is God and we are not. It’s where we remember that He alone is the Creator and Provider who rested on the seventh day (Gen 2:2). Therefore, we can rest, knowing that He is in control and upholds the universe by the word of His power (Heb 1:3a). It is during Shabbat that we recall that because of Messiah Jesus’ finished work (John 19:30) we are able to enter into God’s rest (Heb 4:9).
